Téra is a daily mobile weaving game that passively detects postpartum depression risk in new mothers ; without asking them a single clinical question. Prescribed by a midwife during pregnancy, the app collects behavioural signals through natural gameplay and surfaces a prioritised risk flag to the midwife before the next scheduled visit. Built for Côte d'Ivoire, in partnership with AMANII and their connected midwife network. A mother weaves. A midwife acts.
Téra is a daily weaving puzzle app prescribed to postpartum mothers by their midwives. Each session, the mother reproduces a pattern drawn from Ivorian textile traditions by tapping coloured tiles into a grid, guided only by a pattern preview card and the colour of her next thread. Behind the interaction, the app silently logs four behavioral signals: how quickly she responds, whether her engagement is consistent, how she handles errors, and what time of day she plays. These signals are measured against her personal prenatal baseline, established during pregnancy, and monitored for sustained deviations. When two or more signals converge over several days, a plain-language French recommendation is generated by AI and sent to her midwife's dashboard, prompting a visit before the mother has named what she is feeling. She sees a beautiful tapestry growing on her phone. Her midwife sees who needs a call this week. Nobody asks how she feels, but her mental state is reflected through her gameplay, which makes the data more reliable in societies with mental health stigma.
