Silk Route by OurDarb structures cross-border road travel across the GCC into a coordinated, bookable system. Today, high-frequency corridors operate informally, with vehicles traveling partially empty. We convert these fixed journeys into shared seat inventory. Drivers post trips, passengers book seats, and capacity is optimized across outbound and return routes. We don’t create rides—we organize movement that already exists.
This app can be used by both passengers and drivers (professional drivers or just people with extra seats in their car). In the GCC, cross-border travel is very common, with people either flying or driving. I came to understand that ground transport in this context is very informal... maybe you find a guy on Instagram who advertises rides between KSA, the UAE, Oman, Kuwait, etc. You may ask, "Why isn't this already an app?" Or rather, don't Careem and Uber do this? Such globally recognized ride-share apps will likely never touch this kind of long-distance travel. It is too complicated with border regulations and safety. The point really is such that people make these drives all the time anyway. So now, I can book my long-distance car ride from an airport or other hub. I can also book a car for a pilgrimage, either solo or with a big group, and be dropped off at main points around such religious sites like parking lots, shuttle pickups, etc. Additionally, I can state my preferences, including level of service (standard to white glove), silence, climate, accessibility, and women only. I can also state if I am traveling with luggage, pets, or children. Drivers and passengers must verify their identities and their legal ability to travel on the routes they are seeking or advertising. Site includes rating systems and badges for drivers, stating their most traveled routes and number of reviews.
